It is named Hicks-Tinbergen to make it clear that the EEA stands for both theoretical and empirical work in economics in Europe. The 2022 Award will be presented to Espen R Moen, Plamen T Nenov, Florian Sniekers for their paper Buying First or Selling First in Housing Markets (JEEA Volume 19 Issue 1). The Award is named after Birgit Grodal, the first female elected President of the EEA, but who sadly passed away before she took up her presidency. The Award is given once every two years (even years).
